("packages" and "packages-3.0" are symlinks to "packages-current".)  I
see that /etc/daily.local (run from /etc/daily at 12:30AM) updates
packages-{current,stable}/INDEX.  The last timestamp of the one in
packages-stable is at 1AM, which sounds about right.

But someone else is updating packages-current and packages-2.2.6 at
4PM.  I can't read /var/cron without root, so can you go in there and
check?

I can't read /root/bin/chopindex either, but I don't think the script
itself will write anything considering its output is redirected in
daily.local.  Besides, the timestamp is not right if it's the script
that's screwed up.
