XeTeX is a UTF-8 based TeX. This produces xdv files, in stead of dvi files. So if you want to translate to pdf, you should use xdvipdfmx, not dvipdfmx, or xdv2pdf. Plase install texlive-xdvipdfmx and/or texlive-xdv2pdf manually.
