sox translates sound samples between different file formats, and performs various sound effects. This release understands "raw" files in various binary formats, raw textual data, Sound Blaster .VOC files, IRCAM SoundFile files, SUN Sparcstation .au files, mutant DEC .au files, Apple/SGI AIFF files, CD-R (music CD format), Macintosh HCOM files, Sounder files, NeXT .snd files, SUN ADPCM (compressed) .au files, and Soundtool (DOS) files. The sound effects include changing the sample rate, adding echo delay lines, applying low-, high, and band-pass filtering, reversing a sample in order to search for backmasked messages, and the infamous Fender Vibro effect.

Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
The pkg_admin audit command locates any installed package which has been mentioned in security advisories as having vulnerabilities.
Please note the vulnerabilities database might not be fully accurate, and not every bug is exploitable with every configuration.
Problem reports, updates or suggestions for this package should be reported with send-pr.
