The UW imapd is the reference implementation of the IMAP4 protocol for interactive remote retrieval of mail and storage of mail folders. Also included are POP2 and POP3 servers and an IMAP protocol tester (mtest). The Pine mail program includes an IMAP4 client driver, as does Netscape version 4 and above.
Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
The pkg_admin audit command locates any installed package which has been mentioned in security advisories as having vulnerabilities.
