Just as GTK+ is build on top of GDK, GtkGLArea is built on top of gdkgl which is basically wrapper around GLX functions. The widget itself is very similar to GtkDrawinigArea widget and adds only few extra functions. Lower level gdkgl functions make it easy to render on any widget that has OpenGL capable visual, rendering to off-screen pixmaps is also supported.
Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
The pkg_admin audit command locates any installed package which has been mentioned in security advisories as having vulnerabilities.
