GNU libsigsegv is a library for handling page faults in user mode. A page fault occurs when a program tries to access a region of memory that is currently unavailable. Catching and handling a page fault is a useful technique for implementing: * Pageable virtual memory * Memory-mapped access to persistent databases * Generational garbage collectors * Stack overflow handlers * Distributed shared memory
Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
The pkg_admin audit command locates any installed package which has been mentioned in security advisories as having vulnerabilities.
